The Pennsylvania Resource Council's Collection Events In August, September And October

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - According to a press release from the Pennsylvania Resource Council...

Clean out the basement, the garage and the tool shed! The Pennsylvania Resources Council will hold six collection events for a wide variety of materials – ranging from pesticides and paints to tires and computers – in August, September and October.

Collections in Allegheny County will be hard-to-recycle events at the Allegheny County Airport (Aug. 22), Heinz Field (Aug. 29) and The Mall at Robinson (Oct. 3). Household chemical collections will take place at Boyce Park (Aug. 15) and South Park (Sept. 12).

A household chemical collection will take place in Beaver County at Bradys Run Park (Oct. 10).

PRC will host a regional "hard-to-recycle" collection on Pittsburgh's North Shore in the Heinz Field Parking lot. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Heinz Field Gold 1A parking lot on Art Rooney Avenue.


Individuals can drop off "e-waste" such as computers, cell phones, printer/toner cartridges, CFLs and expanded polystyrene packaging material at no cost.

For a nominal fee, individuals can drop off alkaline batteries, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances and tires.

Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

    • August 29 (Heinz Field, Allegheny County)
    • October 3 (The Mall at Robinson, Allegheny County)


Individuals can drop off automotive fluids, household cleaners, pesticides, paints and other household chemicals for a cost of $3/gallon.

            Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

    • August 15 (Boyce Park, Allegheny County)
    • September 12 (South Park, Allegheny County)
    • October 10 (Bradys Run Park, Beaver County)
