State Police Seek Suspect In Theft Of Drugs From EMS Building

MOUNT PLEASANT (KDKA) -- State police are investigating after drugs were stolen from a medical kit inside the Norvelt EMS building.

The theft was noticed recently, but could have happened anytime over the last nine months to a year.

The kits are kept in the building and used to replace items used in an ambulance. Once a kit is tagged and secured, it is stored for later use.

Officials say it's likely this was an inside job because there was no forced entry to the building at any point over the last year.

A small amount of fentanyl patches and morphine were taken.

State police say these are powerful drugs and can also be dangerous when used recreationally.

About 30 people have been employed at Norvelt EMS over the last year.
