Fire At South Side Industrial Complex Prompts Evacuations

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Several offices were evacuated late Tuesday afternoon when a fast-moving fire ripped through an industrial complex on the South Side.

The fire broke out around 4 p.m. at the corner of Bingham and South 7th Streets, right along river near South Side Flats.

The three-alarm fire and prompted a large response from emergency officials, including police, firefighters, city officials and more.

Fire officials say crews had some challenges making entry into the four connected buildings.

All the units were vacant, but workers in businesses nearby were forced to evacuate.

Bingham Street was shut down to traffic for several hours.

Fire crews were seen working on the roof of the building. The fire was brought under control just after 5 p.m.
