1 Man In Critical Condition After Officer-Involved Shooting In Crafton Heights

CRAFTON HEIGHTS (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police said a suspect was critically wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Crafton Heights.

Allegheny County Police are handling the investigation.

Officers were first called to a home in the 1600 block of Crucible Street around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday.

County police said the officers heard gunshots inside the home and immediately set up a perimeter.

Police say the suspect then appeared in the front door and fired multiple shots at the officers.

Police say one officer returned fire and struck the suspect at least one.

Allegheny County Police later identified the suspect as Issa Abdus-Salaam, 31. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

County police said a woman and two children were in the home at the time of the shooting. They were not hurt.

Police say Abdus-Salaam will be charged with simple assault, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Pittsburgh Police said the officer was placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation.
