The Steelers say Shazier will continue tests and evaluations before his medical team provides any further updates on his condition. They also thanked the doctors and staff at UC Health's University of Cincinnati Medical Center for the excellent care he received while at that facility.
Shazier was injured during the Monday night' game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After making a tackle he laid on the field appearing unable to move the lower part of his body. He was carted off the field and taken directly to the hospital.
On Tuesday, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger talked about how frightening Shazier's injury was.
"When you're out there, you're worried about him and his health and all those things, but you also understand that you've got to continue to play a football game," he said.
Steelers' guard Ramon Foster said, "This was one of the first times ever, in my entire life of playing football, where I felt scared of football."
