INDUSTRY (KDKA)- A fire early Friday morning in Industry, Beaver County, destroyed the borough's public works building.
The fire started around 1:30 a.m. at the building along Midland-Beaver Road, Route 68, at Engle Road.
Roadmaster Paul Dille left the building around 9 p.m. Thursday, and a few hours later, he was awakened by a phone call telling him that the borough building was on fire.
When firefighters arrived on scene, the building was completely consumed in flames.
It was the public works building for the Borough of Industry, which stored salt trucks, plow trucks, lawnmowers and much more.
It's very bad timing for the borough, as a winter storm is approaching this weekend.
"The building is our road department's building, couple plow trucks, couple motors, its just main support for the borough," said Chief Charles Ward of the Industry Fire Department.
Officials launched a defensive effort to minimize damage to a new overflow garage that was just finished yesterday.
However, the borough lost two salt trucks, a load and two large mowers. They also lost tools and another truck parked out back. Their salt supply was also destroyed.
There was no one inside the building at the time of the fire, no injuries reported.
The building is a complete loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A warming station was brought to the scene, to make sure firefighters stayed warm.
Neighboring Ohioville borough has already offered to help treat the roads during the storm this weekend.
