Police In Fayette Co. Confiscate Drugs During Traffic Stop

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- Investigators say a morning traffic stop in Uniontown netted a garbage bag full of marijuana with a street value of $130,000.

Uniontown police pulled the van over on Dunlap Street.

Officers say the odor coming from the vehicle was overwhelming.

They searched the van and found bundles of marijuana weighing about 50 pounds.

"These drugs would have been distributed to many different people throughout the city or the county, and then sold to how many people throughout the county, so it was a significant amount of drugs," said Det. Donald Gmitter, of the Uniontown Police Department.

Police arrested 21-year-old Allen Settles Jr. and 31-year-old Derrick Snyder. They are facing three counts each of drug charges.

Fayette County District Attorney Jack Heneks characterized the pair as upper to mid-level dealers.

"Obviously, this is a long … struggle, but one that by these kind of arrests and these kind of confiscations we seek to reduce the drug trafficking in Fayette County," Heneks said.
