Officials: Man Pulled From Allegheny River Has Died

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The man that was pulled from the Allegheny River on Saturday has died, according to police.

Authorities said in a statement Sunday that the man was pulled from the Allegheny River shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Pittsburgh River Rescue team, police, fire and EMS crews responded to the call near the Andy Warhol Bridge.

According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, 20-year-old Mohammed Zubair Shaikh, of Pittsburgh, jumped from the Roberto Clemente Bridge at approximately 2:24 p.m.

According to officials, first responders pulled the Shaikh from the river and immediately initiated CPR. Shaikh was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have not released if foul play was involved.
