Storms Hit Region Causing Damage, Flooding
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Severe weather continues to hit our area causing heaving rain, flooding, and severe thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Allegheny County until 12:15 a.m. Monday morning.
Forecasters say 1-to-2 inches of rain has already fallen, and another 1-to-2 is possible.
A tornado warning was issued for Southeastern Allegheny County, and Southwestern Westmoreland County, but has since expired.
Forecasters say a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Clairton, or near McKeesport and moving east.
KDKA viewer Rachel Hobson posted a video of what looks like a possible funnel cloud or tornado near Mt. Vernon.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Armstrong, Beaver, Clarion, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Washington counties until 1 a.m. Monday.
Several of those areas have been on severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings throughout parts of Sunday evening.
There has already been flooding in some parts of Butler County, including through some peoples' backyards in Worth Township.
Several townhouses in Adams Township were also evacuated after lightning hit a housing complex.
Some houses were filled with smoke and firefighters were called to the scene.
