North Hills Special Response Team And SWAT Officers Respond To Domestic Situation In McCandless

MCCANDLESS (KDKA) -- A road was shut down off of Route 19 on Tuesday afternoon and SWAT was brought in after a woman called 911 after hearing a gunshot.

The house where it all occurred was off of West Ingomar Road in McCandless.

According to the McCandless Police Chief Ryan Hawk, the call came in just before 2:30 p.m.

He said a man and a woman got into an argument outside of the home and the man went back into the home.

That's when Hawk said the woman heard a gunshot and immediately called 911. McCandless Police and the North Hills Special Response Team arrived at what they believed to be a domestic situation. They treated it as a barricaded situation, not knowing what was happening inside.

When they were able to get into the home, they found the man dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identifies the man as 50-year-old Christopher Kinzler.

"Deceased since that gunshot was heard," said Chief Ryan Hawk. "At this time, we can say this was not a situation where anyone was barricaded."

The police chief said his officers have responded to this home before but did not know the specifics.

West Ingomar Road has since been reopened to traffic.
