Barbershop Owner Killed In Marshall-Shadeland
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 44-year old barber was fatally shot Saturday evening at his Marshall-Shadeland shop.
Lamar Thomas sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Pittsburgh Police Cmdr. Larry Scirotto says 911 got calls around 6 p.m. Saturday about gunfire in the neighborhood. Detectives found Thomas' body when they arrived on the scene.
Sheril Massie, Thomas' mother-in-law, said her daughter and Lamar were married a year ago this month. The victim was originally from Erie, and had lived in Pittsburgh for about six years.
Massie said he opened his barber shop only a couple of months ago.
Cmdr. Scirotto said it did not appear robbery was a motive.
Detectives will check surveillance video from neighboring businesses for possible clues.
Lindsey Chenault, who said he was a Thomas customer, said the victim was, "a nice guy, well liked in the neighborhood."
