Market District Expands Sunflower Seed Recall

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A previously announced sunflower seed recall is now expanding to include products with a later expiration date.

Earlier this month, Giant Eagle Market District announced a recall of sunflower seeds sold in bulk bins between February 15 and May 3 and in pre-packaged containers with sell-by dates of Aug. 1 through Aug. 19. The recall was issued due to listeria concerns.

The product's supplier, SunOpta, has expanded the recall to include sunflower seeds purchased in bulk bins between May 6 and May 19 and pre-packaged containers of sunflower seeds with sell-by dates of Nov. 6 through Nov. 15.
