Man To Stand Trial In Baldwin Woman's Murder

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was found dead in a wooded area of Washington County will stand trial.

Jordan Clemons, 22, was charged in the stabbing death of Karissa Kunco, 21, of Baldwin last month.

A parade of witnesses testified about how Clemons was driving around in Kunco's car and using her credit card the night she disappeared.

A forensic pathologist testified that Kunco's throat had been slashed from ear to ear.

Her family is outraged.

"Justice starts today," Paul Kunco's, the victim's father, said. "That piece of crap in there now goes to hell here and when he leaves here, so, that's all I can say."

Emotions spilled into the courtroom hallway following what the prosecution called overwhelming circumstantial evidence against Clemons, including a roommate who says Clemons called and said, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. She's dead."

Clemons says he's innocent.

"Mr. Clemons is maintaining his innocence," Defense attorney Pete Marcoline said. "He's maintaining she was not held against her will at any point that night and we'll see where the process leads."

Kunco's family says she was a caring, loving, person who tried to help Clemons, but ended up dead.

Clemons was arrested initially on an outstanding warrant for burglary, theft and simple assault for an incident in Canonsburg that happened several days before Kunco's murder.

Clemons will also stand trial on charges related to that incident.
