Suspect arrested in deadly West Mifflin apartment shooting
A man has been taken into custody in connection with a deadly apartment shooting in West Mifflin.
The Allegheny County Police Department said that dispatchers were notified of a shooting along B Drive inside a building at the Mifflin Estates complex around 12:45 a.m. on Monday.
According to police, when first responders arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot multiple times.
Police said the man was taken to an area hospital and was pronounced dead. His identity hasn't been released.
Police later said that Richard Jetter, 27, has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the deadly shooting.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman and a child were inside the apartment with the victim when Jetter shot and killed him. The woman told police that Jetter had been living with her since October 2025, but he was briefly kicked out in June of this year, and they were in the process of breaking up.
Police said the woman told them that she and Jetter were talking the night before about getting his stuff out of the apartment. She said there was no discussion or argument before the shooting, but Jetter repeatedly told her that the victim was "going for his gun."
Officers said they recovered four projectiles from under the area where the victim was found. Based on the woman's statements, it's believed that the victim was holding a Sheetz bag at the time of the shooting and was reportedly taking it to the fridge to put the leftovers in there, police said.
