Woman missing for nearly 2 weeks found dead in Ohio

A woman missing for nearly two weeks was found dead in Ohio, authorities said.

In a joint news release on Facebook, the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office and the Cambridge Police Department said Katrina Day was found dead on Tuesday. Authorities did not release any additional information on where exactly her body was found or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Capt. Sam Williams of the sheriff's office told The Daily Jefferson that Day's family reported her missing on Aug. 5 after not having had any contact with her for several days. The cause of death remains under investigation.

"This was not the outcome that Katrina's family, friends, law enforcement, or our community had hoped for," the news release said.

Law enforcement thanked the public for its help in searching for the 35-year-old woman from Cambridge, saying they were "grateful to those who shared social media posts, provided information, and offered their assistance and support."

The news release went on to call Day's death a "tragic loss," also reminding everyone to respect the privacy and wishes of her loved ones during "this extremely difficult time."

"We ask that you keep Katrina, her family, and her friends in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead," the Facebook post went on to say.

A Facebook post from the Cambridge Police Department earlier this month said Day was last believed to be in the Buffalo, Ohio area, though she was believed to frequent the Lore City area.
