Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman Files Necessary Paperwork For Potential Senate Run
By: KDKA-TV News Staff
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman has filed the necessary paperwork to possibly run for Pennsylvania's open U.S. Senate seat in 2022.
Fetterman filed his statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday.
The Lt. Governor has told KDKA that while this is not an official announcement, it is a requirement when fundraising is being done.
While he has not made a formal announcement, the filing shows that he could run for the seat that Senator Pat Toomey will vacate.
Fetterman raised $1 million in two weeks after announcing he was exploring a Senate run last month.
