Fayette County Crash Leaves 1 Dead

SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after one woman was killed in a Monday morning crash in Fayette County.

According to police, the crash happened on Route 119 near the Walnut Hill exit in South Union Township around 9 a.m.

Christina Yauger, 19, of Markleysburg, lost control of her car, went off the road and struck an embankment.

Yauger was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Yauger was simply trying to get to a place to sign a document and thought she was running behind on time. That haste may have cost her her life.

"She failed to negotiate the curve in the road, going off the road, into the grassy area you'll see," said State Police Tpr. Stefanie Plume.

Investigators say Yauger was on her way to meet her boyfriend at a house closing. He arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.

Police say there are no indications that Yauger was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but toxicology tests are pending.
