CHESWICK (KDKA) -- Fire destroyed two sheds and a fence in Cheswick overnight.

The blaze broke out at the corner of South Highland Avenue and Oak Street around 11 p.m. Sunday.

From a distance, it looked like the entire block was on fire.

"I went to the kitchen here, and when I saw the flames just rolling out of that building, I told her get in the car, and get out of the garage as fast as you can," said homeowner Dom Vizzo.

However, the garage door opener wouldn't work since the circuit breaker blew. Vizzo and his wife ran out of the house on the corner of Oak and South Highland in Cheswick instead. While all of this was happening, you could hear the sound of explosions.

"That shed also had a porch area, and on there was a double barbecue with two propane tanks. When I went outside to check the fire, the tank exploded," said Vizzo.

Both sheds in the couple's backyard were gone. Part of their fence was ruined. A box of memorabilia was charred. The next-door neighbor's shed was also destroyed.

Firefighters did all they could to prevent the homes nearby from going up in flames.

"We were able to get water on the houses, protect the structures and get a good knock on the fire before it spread to any of the houses," said Cheswick Fire Chief Rick Franks.

As far as the cause of the fire, that is still unclear.

"The only thing it could have been was electrical. There's no gas in there. No appliances left on. No heaters," said Vizzo.

The fire marshal will determine the cause.
