Deadline To Apply For Realty Settlement Nears
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Thousands of area home buyers and sellers could be eligible for a refund in a realty settlement; but the time to act is fast approaching.
As the result of a class action lawsuit, homeowners who either bought or sold a house between February 13, 2005 and February 13, 2009 using a real estate agent from Howard Hanna, Coldwell Banker, Freeman Realty, Northwood Realty or Prudential Preferred Realty could get a piece of a nearly $2.4 million legal settlement with West Penn Multi-List.
West Penn Multi-List was sued after claims they restricted competition among real estate brokers.
About 50,000 people have been notified by mail that they can get up to 10-percent of the commission they paid; but the deadline to file a claim is this coming Friday.
Those eligible for a refund must mail a completed and signed claim form, postmarked by October 14th to the following address:
Logue v. West Penn Multi-List, Inc.
