15-Year-Old Killed In Ohio Township House Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A teenage girl was killed in a fire in Ohio Township on Saturday.

Firefighters were called around 6:15 p.m. to a home in the 200-block of Wible Lane, off Reis Run Road.

Officials initially told KDKA's Kym Gable that three family members were inside at the time of the fire and one person was unaccounted for.

Just before 9:30 p.m., officials confirmed that a female victim's body was recovered from the home.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has identified the victim as 15-year-old Hannah Milbert.

The Avonworth School District posted on their Facebook page that Milbert was an honor student, a Girl Scout and a star goalie on the soccer team.

A sister of Hannah's told the Post-Gazette that Hannah and her parents were home at the time of the fire. Their parents escaped the fire uninjured.

The Avonworth School District says counselors will be available at the high school Monday.

Crews struggled to battle the blaze in freezing temperatures. Fire hydrants were completely frozen and tanker trucks had to be used to transport water to the scene.

The Salvation Army was on scene. A Port Authority bus was brought in as a warming station for the dozens of firefighters battling the flames and bitter cold.
