City Announces Road Closures For President's Visit

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – President Barack Obama will be visiting Pittsburgh on Tuesday and there will be some road closures as a result.

The President will be at the I.B.E.W. Local 5 Training Center on Hot Metal Street.

During his address, Obama plans to talk about job creation and the need for Congress to pass the American Jobs Act.

Some official government business is also on his itinerary. He plans to convene a meeting of the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.

According to Pittsburgh Police, the following closures will be in effect from 10 a.m. until about 3 p.m.:

  • East Carson Street will be closed from South 26th Street to Sarah Street.
  • Hot Metal Bridge and Hot Metal Street along with the pedestrian, and bicycle ramps.
  • Sidney Street between South 28th Street and Sarah Street.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured down South 26th Street to Sarah Street and back to East Carson Street.

Westbound traffic will also be detoured onto Sarah Street and then back onto East Carson Street.

Both Sarah and 26th Streets will be closed to parking from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Cars parking on those streets will be ticketed and towed beginning at 8 a.m.
