Children Get Close-Up View Of Favorite Trucks At Event
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Lots of children are fascinated by big trucks and Saturday, some local kids got to see them up close.
The Junior League of Pittsburgh hosted its sixth annual "Touch a Truck" event in the Strip District.
Children got the opportunity to touch and see more than 30 trucks, including bulldozers, fire trucks, semi-trucks and other vehicles.
The family of 2-year-old Maddox Derkosh, who was tragically killed at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium last November, was also in attendance. They were taking toy truck donation for "Trucks for Maddox," which was started in honor of Derkosh who loved trucks.
"All of us that are a part of this want to see smiles on the children's faces," spokesperson Teri Kemp said.
The truck donations will go to 13 local charities.
