City Firefighter Helps Catch Alleged Carrick Bank Robber
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police got some help from the public in catching a suspected bank robber.
The robbery happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Huntington Bank in the 1800-block of Brownsville Road in Carrick.
Pittsburgh police say 63-year-old George Adams had a knife when he demanded cash from a teller.
Off-duty Pittsburgh firefighter Randy Jankowski was outside the bank in his car. He called 911 while he followed the suspect down Brownsville Road.
Within a few minutes, several police officers showed up and made an arrest. Police say Adams had the knife and the bank's money on him.
Zone 3 police arrested Adams at the intersection of Delrose and Thielman Streets. He's in the Allegheny County Jail on one count each of robbery and possessing instruments of a crime.
