Car Slams Into House In Spring Hill

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Jessica Rost just loaded the dishwasher when she heard a loud noise and saw a wall collapsing in her kitchen.

The driver of a Ford Taurus lost control and slammed into the back of her house on Beckfield Street.

"It just happened so quick that I screamed and I got back out of the kitchen," she said. "It's a very scary feeling."

Police say the driver somehow lost control in an upper parking lot and the car barrelled down the hillside.

"It appears the driver was picking up a woman that works at Manorcare and possibly had some sort of medical episode, went through a fence, down the hillside, over a retaining wall, and into the home." said Chris Togneri a Pittsburgh Public Safety officer.

Two people inside the house were not hurt. The driver was alert and talking, he was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The passenger was not injured.

"There will be an accident report, there will be an investigation, but there are no charges or citations," Togneri said.

The city inspector has determined the building is structurally sound and the owner is just waiting for his insurance company to determine the damage.
