Man Found Behind Business, Shot In The Head

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a homicide in Butler County.

The body of 45-year-old Robert Charles Gaurrich was found behind his business, Bob's Auto Center, in Forward Township, near Evans City, Friday night.

State police say someone who knew Gaurrich found his body shortly after 11 p.m. in the auto shop.

It wasn't immediately clear Saturday morning how Gaurrich died, but police called his death suspicious. An autopsy done in the afternoon later revealed that he died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

State police say there is no sign of forced entry into the building and have not given a possible motive or suspect.

"It is suspicious death right now … it may turn out to be something as a homicide, or maybe self-inflicted," Trooper Dan Kesten said early in the investigation.

Evan's City resident Bill Wiles says Gaurrich had worked on his car and motorcycle in the past. Wiles said he's shocked to hear of Gaurrich's death, especially in his sleepy town.

"Evans City's a pretty quiet town and hearing something like that's kinda, a little worrisome, a little scary that it could happen this close to home," Wiles said.

The investigation is ongoing.
