Best Halloween Sites To Visit Near Pittsburgh

The best way to get into the spirit of the Halloween season is to visit some of Pittsburgh's greatest spooky sites. From haunted houses to farms, there are lots of places all over Pittsburgh to find get your jitters going this year. For the best of the best, read on.

Allen's Haunted Hayride And Tavern Of Terror

Running through Halloween, Allen's Hayride takes thrill-seekers on a one mile tour of the farm through a haunted forest, barn and fields. Carnival rides, games and concessions round out this fun fright-for-all. Also, new in 2015, Allen's has added their signature Tavern of Terror, a 3,500-square-foot haunted walk-through that features a variety of classic horror, ranging from Frankenstein, to Carnivale and Dracula. Tickets for the hayride run $15.00, and tavern are $25.00.

Castle Blood, a walk-through theatrical haunted attraction, is open Friday to Sunday through Nov 1st.  New this year, a new Crowhaven for a new Castle Blood Hunt. The Denizens of the castle are slowly moving to their new location. Blood's matinee show is lights up with no scares; children still play the game, but also trick or treat within the castle, visiting a friendly monster family. This is a strictly no startle scares show, good for young children and adults who wish to see Castle Blood in the full light. Patrons are welcome to take photos during the matinee tour.

Demon House

There are plenty of activities to keep Demon House visitors occupied on the haunted grounds, including campfires, music and of course, the house tour. The attraction also features an outdoor movie theater playing the best in horror films. Self proclaimed as "the scare of a lifetime," Demon House sits on an eerie legend; the legend says, one by one all seven men went into the mansion. The door slammed shut behind them. The mansion began to rumble with noise that could be heard from town.

The event features several haunts: Welcome to the Freakshow, The Doctor, and John Oliver's Tavern. The Haunted Expedition consist of a hayride which will drop customer off at the attractions. The attractions consists of walking on trails, through corn fields, and in rooms where there are interactive scenes. They have different packages to choose from, including a "no-scare" necklace to keep the ghoulies away. General admission for this romp through the wicked side is $15.00.

Haunted Hills Estate features three different attractions: Challenge Trail, Legends and Slaughterhouse. The estate, located on a 100-acre farm, lies on the outskirts of Uniontown. The Challenge Trail attempts to avoid the undead as patrons trek this dark and eerie hour-long trail through a misty forest. Legends allows the mentally insane to roam the halls of a twenty five rooms of nightmares. They have tried seclusion, medication, shock therapy and exorcism, to no avail. Slaughter House has the patrons trapped in a Butcher's Room at the old abandoned slaughter house at the farm. You must use your wits and teamwork to find a lost item and escape. Tickets are $14.00 per attraction, $18.00 for two,  or all three for $22.00.
