Arrest made after multiple shots fired in road rage incident in Beaver County
Earlier this week, a man was taken into custody and now faces several charges after a road rage incident turned into gunshots being fired.
According to the New Sewickley Township Police Department, 41-year-old Christopher Brown of Brighton Township is accused of nearly running another vehicle off the road and firing shots at the vehicle on Thursday night.
He is facing charges of aggravated assault, firearms violations, recklessly endangering another person, and terroristic threats.
An investigation by police uncovered that the incident began in the 300 block of Big Knob Road when the two vehicles passed each other while traveling in opposite directions, and Brown allegedly turned around and began to follow the other vehicle.
The victim told police that Brown attempted to cut the victim off multiple times to the point that the victim had to swerve off the road and into a yard to avoid being hit. The incident continued onto Blackwoods and Fezell Roads, and that's when Brown allegedly began firing gunshots at the victim's vehicle.
Some of the incident was captured on cellphone video, and when officers watched the footage, it showed approximately 15 shots being fired at the victim's vehicle. Officers then found multiple shell casings along the road on Fezell Road.
Police were able to locate Brown a short time later, and he admitted to being involved in the road rage incident, but denied firing shots during the incident. However, officers said Brown was found to be in possession of a .40-caliber Glock Model 23 pistol during the initial interview, and it was found to have five missing rounds.
He told police that he did fire the gun from his vehicle, but denied shooting at the victim, claiming that the victim threw some kind of liquid at him, which led to the incident.
After obtaining a search warrant for Brown's vehicle, officers found an empty .40-caliber Glock magazine, cash, several containers of marijuana, and marijuana packaging material.
Brown is now being held in the Beaver County Jail, and additional charges are pending, according to police.
