8-Month-Old Baby Found Unresponsive In Beaver Falls

BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) -- Beaver County detectives and city police in Beaver Falls continue to investigate how an 8-month-old child sustained life-threatening injuries.

The baby was flown by medical helicopter to Children's Hospital on Thursday afternoon. A family friend said the baby was on life support.

The baby was in the care of its father at Morado Dwellings in unit 392.

KDKA's Bob Allen reports:

Martha Frank, the next-door neighbor, said the father came to her house several times to use her telephone before police arrived.

She said the child appeared unresponsive when taken to the ambulance by paramedics.

According to neighbors, the couple moved into the apartment several weeks ago. The complex is operated by the Beaver County Housing Authority.

KDKA's Ralph Iannotti reports:

Authorities say the father told police the child fell. He was questioned by Beaver Falls Police, but no charges have been filed.

The child's mother was not at home when the injury occurred. It's believed she was at work.

"The ambulance came up, the fire trucks and then they had three, four police cars," Clay Baldwin, a neighbor, said. "They were running to the door, they grabbed the baby, and took the baby and put it in the ambulance."

So far, officials have not released any updated information on the child's condition.
