PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- After watching a house for weeks, authorities arrested five people in connection to an alleged marijuana operation in Carrick.
Narcotics detectives with Pittsburgh police say they've been watching a house on Parkfield Street for almost a month.
"We've seen numerous people coming and going," Pittsburgh Police Detective Brian Nicholas said. "We were concerned about weapons, possibly inside the location and just the sheer size of the house."
It all started when they got a tip about drug deals going on inside. After weeks of surveillance and armed with the SWAT team just in case, they served arrest warrants Tuesday morning.
Police say they found a half dozen people sitting at the dining room table bagging marijuana, including a mother of two.
"The adult female has two small children age 5 and 4 … where one was sitting on her lap and the other was standing in close proximity," Nicholas said.
The three adults arrested are Sandra Smith; her boyfriend, Darius Smith and his brother, William Smith. Two juvenile males were also arrested. They are all facing multiple drug charges.
Police say the group was growing and selling marijuana.
The mother of those two young children is facing additional counts. Children Youth and Families will take custody of her children.
