1 Arrested, 1 Injured In Washington Co. Sword Attack
CANONSBURG (KDKA) – A Washington County man is facing charges after allegedly stabbing a man in the back with a sword.
According to the Observer-Reporter, the incident happened in an apartment on East Water Street around 6 p.m. Monday.
Police were called to the apartment twice that afternoon by the victim. On the first occasion, Daniel Buretz, 55, told officers the disagreement had been settled. About an hour later, the victim called police again claiming Buretz had stabbed him with a sword.
When police arrived for a second time, Buretz was still highly intoxicated. After failing to comply with officers' commands, one pulled out a Taser and Buretz put up his hands. However, he fell face-first into a fan.
Police later found the sword in Buretz's bedroom.
Buretz is facing a list of charges including, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. He is currently being held in the Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond.
As for the victim, he was taken to Canonsburg Hospital to be treated for a 2-inch wound in his back.
