What am I seeing?
Some images just seem to need more explanation than others.
While covering the week's news, which seemed to include a lot more people in a lot more costumes around the world than usual, these are a few that caught our eye.
Like this Mr. Invisible guy. How's that possible?
Circulo de Bellas Artes
Revellers enjoy a costume party at Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Spain, Feb. 15, 2015.
The Carnival, which is believed to come from pagan festivals during the Middle Ages, takes place across Spain before Lent. This year's Carnival theme is the novel "Don Quijote de la Mancha" (Don Quixote) written by Miguel de Cervantes. The festival was forbidden for 44 years in Madrid during Franco's dictatorship.
We're still not sure how Mr. Invisible relates to Don Quixote, though.
Upside-Down Car
Looks like an interesting way to drive, though a tad tricky.
"Pick Yourself Up And Pull Yourself Together"
Pedestrians and workers pass an upside-down car art installation in a car park on the South Bank in London, Feb. 19, 2015.
British artist Alex Chinneck's illusory piece, entitled "Pick Yourself Up And Pull Yourself Together," of a Vauxhall car suspended upside-down, appearing to be gripping onto a peeled-back length of tarmac, is on display in the working car park for a week.
Hanging Around
More hanging about...perhaps a trendy thing this week.
Flower Parade
Artists perform during the Flower Parade of the 131st Carnival of Nice in France, Feb. 18, 2015.
The Carnival will run up to March 1 and will celebrate the "King of Music."
Teddy Bear
That teddy bear looks injured.
Robot
A boy rides on a snow wagon towed by a robot dressed as a teddy bear, which only moves forward by moving its legs, during the Ice and Snow Carnival at Taoranting Park in Beijing, Feb. 19, 2015.
Baby On A Pole
We warned you there were a lot of costumed people this week. All that black stuff looks hard to take off.
Luzon's Devils
People sporting horns on their heads and grease on their faces perform as "Diablo de Luzon" (Luzon's Devils) during the Carnaval in Luzon, near Guadalajara, Mexico, Feb. 14, 2015.
Splat
Covered face and oranges. Looks messy nevertheless.
Middle Ages Dress-Up
Dressed up as Middle Ages kings' guards, a group of men ride in a horse-drawn carriage and pelt "foot soldiers" with oranges, as thousands gather to re-enact a Middle Ages battle when the townsfolk of Ivrea, Italy overthrew an evil king, Feb. 15, 2015.
In a strange twist, instead of swords and cross bows, these days the weapons of choice are oranges.
Go armed with oranges if you travel there in February!
Jail
Kids in jail?
Anti-Bashar al-Assad Protest
Children carry banners inside a cage during a protest against forces loyal to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, in Douma near Damascus, Feb. 15, 2015.
The protest, which had children wear orange suits depicting victims of ISIS, compared forces loyal to Syria's president Bashar al-Assad to ISIS, to draw attention to residents living under siege and dying from strikes by government forces, activists said.
Scary Dudes
Are they trying to scare us?
Samba School Students
Revelers from the Sao Clemente Samba School participate in the annual Carnaval Parade in Rio de Janeiro's Sambadrome, Feb. 16, 2015.
Colorful Sheep
Why? Why? Why?
Lunar New Year
A woman takes a selfie in front of a Lunar New Year display featuring sheep at a shopping mall in Hong Kong, Feb. 13, 2015.
The Chinese Lunar New Year that began Feb. 19 welcomed the Year of the Sheep (or Year of the Goat or Ram depending on your interpretation).
Boy And Shark
This just doesn't seem like a smart idea.
Cageless Shark Diving
Shark ecologist and boat captain Juan Oliphant signals to tourists that a lot of sharks are approaching them on a cageless shark dive tour in Haleiwa, Hawaii Feb. 16, 2015.
Shark tours are a renowned form of eco-tourism in Hawaii, and diving with sharks without a cage is becoming increasingly popular as well.
Two Fake Felines
OK, this is our last costumed photo, but they are fun.
Carnaval
Two mothers and their children eat before participating in the parade of the Carnaval in Gijon, northern Spain, Feb. 16, 2015.
