Sofia, born in Athens in 1938, is the oldest daughter of King Paul I of Greece and, like King Juan Carlos, she grew up in exile during World War II. They were married May 14, 1962, in Athens.

Felipe, the heir to the throne, is the third child of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. He was born on Jan. 30, 1968. The 6-foot-5-inch prince served in the military, like his father before him, was educated at the University of Madrid and Georgetown University. He was a member of the Spanish Olympic Sailing team in 1992.

The oldest child of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, Princess Elena was an English teacher before her 1995 marriage. Although divorced from Jaime de Marichalar since 2009, she is the mother of two, Felipe Juan and Victoria Fredrica.
