On January 8, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced they would be stepping back from their roles as senior members of the royal family, with a goal of financial independence.
The couple said they are planning to split their time between Britain and North America. They spent their Christmas break in Canada, away from the spotlight.
