Hometown Honors
Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, a West Virginia native and director of the documentary "Super Size Me," hosts the Governor's Arts Awards, April 4, 2005, at the state Cultural Center in Charleston, W.Va. Spurlock, who grew up in Beckley and Parkersburg, was nominated for an Academy Award for his film. It chronicled his deterioration during a 30-day experiment in which he ate nothing but fast-food from McDonald's.

The dolphin is one of about 68 that stranded March 2 off the Florida Keys. Of 26 dolphins transported to the Conservancy March 5, a dozen have survived and officials continue to seek volunteers to aid the mammals as well as cash contributions to purchase food and medication. Experts are still investigating the cause of the stranding.
