The "Rehab" singer" wanted to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. Winehouse, 27, also sought treatment in January 2008.

Amy Winehouse shot to fame with the album "Back to Black," whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop was a global hit. It won five Grammys and made Winehouse - with her black beehive hairdo and old-fashioned sailor tattoos - one of music's most recognizable stars.
Few celebrities can match Amy Winehouse when it comes to self-destructive behavior. The troubled English rocker acknowledged a drinking problem, and there have also been reports of cutting. She has "crisscross scars and scatches" up and down her left arm, People magazine reported. And a video showed Winehouse scratching her exposed midriff with a shard of broken mirror.

On April 26, 2008, Winehouse was cautioned by police after she slapped a man in the face. It wouldn't be the only time her temper would get the better of her. On March 5, 2009, she was arrested and charged with common assault after a woman claimed Winehouse hit her in the eye at a September 2008 event; she was found not guilty of the charge. On Dec. 19, 2009, she was arrested again after she assaulted a theater manager after he asked her to leave a family Christmas show because she had too much to drink. She was given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs and compensation to the man she attacked.
