4 Arrested Following Robbery Attempt In Woodbury; Suspect Suffered Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

WOODBURY, N.J. (CBS) – Police have arrested four individuals following a robbery attempt on Tuesday night in Woodbury.

It happened around 8:40 p.m. at the Gloucester County Parking Garage located on Cooper Street.

Police say the suspects attempted to rob a 20-year-old man when an altercation ensued.

That's when police say the victim was struck in the head with a weapon which ultimately led to gunfire.

"While striking the victim with the weapon, one of the accused suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his hand/wrist area," police said in a news release.

The victim was transported to Inspira Medical Center in Woodbury where he was treated for his injuries.

Four victims were later arrested after fleeing the scene:

Doug Henderson, 24 of Camden

Brianna Jiminez, 18 of Logan

Aleem Clark, 18 of Camden

Branden Wentz, 19 of Logan

Initial reports indicated that there were two shooting victims. Police say this was not the case and that the only shooting victim is the suspect who suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Wentz is being charged with robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Jimenez is being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

Clark is being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

Henderson is being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and hindering apprehension.

Police say Wentz and Henderson are being detained at the Salem County Jail for their charges, as Jimenez and Clark were released pending court per Judge Joan Adams.
