Woman Critically Injured In Northeast Philadelphia Fire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a building fire in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday morning.

The fire started at about 10:30 a.m. inside a residence in the 8900 block of Frankford Avenue in the city's Torresdale section.

According to fire officials, a 50-year-old woman was removed from the building and rushed to Aria Health's Torresdale Division in critical condition. She reportedly suffered second and third degree burns on 60 percent of her body.

Firefighters were able to place the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
