Widows Of Fallen Officers Voice Outrage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One day after the man who murdered Philadelphia police officer John Pawlowski was sentenced to life in prison, family members who lost their loved ones on the police force spoke out against the sentence.

Kim Pawlowski, widow of slain officer John Pawlowski, responded to the life sentence given to Rasheed Scruggs, the man convicted of murdering her husband.

"After hearing the deadlocked verdict, the family and I were outraged by the lack of justice that was represented for Johnny," Kim said.

She and several family members of slain officers, including Meghan McDonald, sister of Sergeant Patrick McDonald, gathered at FOP headquarters Tuesday speaking out in favor of the death penalty for people who target police.

"And the message that we send when we give life instead of the death penalty for someone who kills a police officer in cold blood for no reason is that we don't care about the job that they are doing for us," Meghan said.

Maureen Faulkner is wife of fallen officer Daniel Faulkner:

"Every one of these men, they were born in the city of Philadelphia, they served the City of Philadelphia, they protected the City of Philadelphia as we should stand up and protect them."
