What's Cooking on 1060: Market Fundraiser, Pig Out, and 'Philly Cooks'

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The annual "Valentine To The Market" culinary party takes place this Saturday, February 23rd.

Reading Terminal Market manager Paul Steinke (top photo) says they will be transforming that casual location for this black tie affair.

"Valentine To The Market is a big party held at the market in the evening, with food from all the market merchants, open bar,  dancing, just a great time with your friends and family and all the market shoppers," he tells KYW Newsradio.

The gala raises funds to preserve the historic Reading Terminal Market.

Philadelphia Magazine's annual "Philly Cooks" event is being extended to four days this year, beginning February 25th.  Brand editor Ashley Primis talks about the Philly Cooks tasting tours and the final party, which are all part of this culinary event.

"Philly Cooks we thought was so terrific (last year) that we wanted it to be more than one day, so we are making it four full days of a celebration.  We're calling it 'Philly Cooks Week,' but we're a bunch of writers and editors -- we're not good at math!  We know it's not a full seven days," she says with a laugh.

And Sunday, March 10th is Amada Pig Out Day.  Chef de cuisine Adam Zensinger says there will be two dinner shifts that night, and their regular dinner service will be suspended.

"The pig-out is an event where we have all-you-can-eat baby suckling pig for two and a half hours carved tableside, a bunch of side tapas, and some all-you-can-drink sangria."
