What's Cooking on 1060: Good Stuff, Healthy Stuff, Tasty Stuff

PHHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- Square One Coffee, from Lancaster, Pa.,  has opened a new location, in center city Philadelphia, at the John C. Anderson apartment building, 249 South 13th Street.

The Anderson is the first official LGBT-friendly senior housing development in Philadelphia.

"We have espresso-based drinks, and then we have house-made mocha sauce from Askinosie Chocolate," says Square One owner Jess Steffy.  "Our dairy is from Lancaster County.  It's all really delicious, Maplehofe Diary milk.  We have teas from Mem Teas.   And we have always a quick-cup option for drip coffee."

Steffy also mentions that she takes her baristas on coffee trips to Kenya.

Onetime "Top Chef" contestant Spike Mendelsohn has just opened a Good Stuff Eatery at 18th and Chestnut Streets, near Rittenhouse Square.

Mendelsohn, an alumnus of the Bravo reality cooking show, says he chose that upscale neighborhood for this restaurant, his seventh nationwide.

But the food, he notes, is casual.

"Primarily burgers," Mendelsohn tells What's Cooking. "We have this thing called 'cluck it' where you can turn any hamburger into a chicken sandwich.  We serve wedge salads.  We have a mushroom burger for vegetarians, because they're people, too!  We have turkey burgers, chili, delicious milkshakes, french fries, onion rings.  I mean, we got the Good Stuff!"

A new fast, casual, healthy, farm-to-table franchise is opening in Marlton, NJ.  Deb Lutz is owner of the B. Good restaurant.

"B. Good is a new concept in 'fast casual,' " she tells What's Cooking.  "We say it's food made by people, not factories.  We work with local farms and local producers.  We seasonally change the menu in the Jersey-Philly area, and we also make a lot of items homemade."
