Warwick Township To Get New, Modern Firehouse

WARWICK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Groundbreaking is scheduled for later this month for a new state-of-the-art firehouse in one of the fastest growing communities in Bucks County.

Demolition of the old Warwick Township firehouse is nearly complete, and that will clear the way for construction of a new, modern and more efficient building on Route 263, just north of Almshouse Road. The new firehouse will feature more bays for fire trucks and other vehicles and sleeping quarters to increase response time in extreme weather.

"It's just going to bring it right up into where we need to be into the 21st century. We'll also have a fitness area, which is the number one cause of, actually, firefighters' deaths…heart attacks," says the fire department's Phil Ramos.

The fire company hopes these new amenities will go a long way in helping them recruit new volunteers. A capital campaign is underway to help fund the $3 million facility, which they say will be ready to go in the fall of this year.
