'Twilight' Adds To Total For Third Weekend On Top
By Bill Wine
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Not a bad box-office weekend at multiplexes, especially on the traditionally slow weekend after Thanksgiving weekend.
In a very close race for first place, last weekend's leader, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2, remained at the top, earning an estimated $17.5 million.
The holdover, Skyfall, was second with $17 million.
Two other holdovers -- Lincoln and Rise of the Guardians – were virtually tied for third with just over $13 million.
The two other new mainstream releases also cracked the top ten. The Brad Pitt-starring crime thriller, Killing Them Softly, debuted with an opening-weekend take of $7 million, good for seventh place, while the horror sequel, The Collection, was tenth with $3 million.
Overall, industry-wide box office continued to outpace last year's totals.
