Theatre Review: 'Reasons To Be Pretty,' at the Suzanne Roberts
By Bob Nelson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A popular play with lots of emotions is currently locked in an engagement of the Philadelphia Theatre Company.
"Reasons To Be Pretty" is an edgy and popular drama by Neal LaBute.
If you are looking for a compassionate drama in which a quartet of characters -- two young males and two young females -- engage in what can be considered very mixed emotions, we have before us a drama as mixed as it is passionate, and with lots of profanity.
Our playwright insists "Reasons To Be Pretty" is, in large measure, about learning to listen. The quartet of characters is intense and remarkable, penned by a playwright who has already captured a number of awards on and off Broadway.
The production, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, Broad and Lombard Streets (on the "Avenue of the Arts"), will run through June 24th.
