Temple University's TV Station Returning to the Air
Temple University has revived its TV station, and it's getting ready to expand its programming this fall.
Temple pulled the plug on its TV station in 1995, but KYW's Mike DeNardo reports that thanks to a $1.2 million gift from philanthropists Kal and Lucille Rudman, Temple University TV ("TUTV") is now back.
Associate professor and general manager Paul Gluck:
"We're trying to create a television station that is in many ways a mirror to the kinds of television companies in which our students may work."
TUTV multimedia content producer Rob Czyzewicz said the station provides a venue for the entire university to show its work:
"Before, we never really had the opportunity to showcase the types of things we could do as broadcasting and film students. Now that TUTV is finally here, we have that opportunity."
On October 1st, Temple TV launches a block of eight hours of programming available in Philadelphia on Comcast channel 50, and soon on Verizon FIOS.
