Sports: Local Wrestler Travels to Siberia
It was quite the summer vacation for Ursinus College wrestler Connor McNamara.
KYW's Matt Leon reports McNamara spent two weeks this June out in Siberia as part of a college wrestling All-American Tour. He talks about how this all came together:
"The National Wrestling Coaches Association, they put together trips to go abroad and wrestle in different parts of the world. My college coach Bill Racich from Ursinus, told me about the Siberia trip, and they are known for having some of the best wrestling in the world so I obviously jumped at the chance."
McNamara says they visited three different cities in Siberia, practicing and competing with different wrestling groups there. He says there was a bit of culture shock, like when he went to the grocery store:
"I was used to seeing everything packaged and everything neat and like we have in America, and I went in and they just had weird stuff like raw fish hanging out on the counter and I was trying to look for a bottle of water and it took like ten minutes to find."
