South Jersey Man Gets 6-Year Prison Term For Distributing Child Porn

BRIDGETON, N.J. (AP) — A southern New Jersey man caught up in a child pornography sweep is now headed to state prison.

Authorities say Jeffrey Mander received a six-year sentence Friday. He also must register as a sex offender and will be on lifetime parole supervision.

The 27-year-old Bridgeton man had pleaded guilty last September to distributing child porn. When he was arrested in October 2013, investigators found 289 videos on his laptop computer that showed the rape and sexual abuse of children ranging in age from toddlers to young teens.

Mander was among 28 defendants charged in two offender sweeps under "Operation Predator Alert," a joint operation by state and federal officials. The sweep targeted offenders in New Jersey who authorities say used a file-sharing network to download and distribute child porn online.
