PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Pennsylvania US Senator Bob Casey is calling for a federal review of the national nursing home five-star rating system.
Each nursing home receives a score in three categories and a facility's rating is often the first thing a family looks at when considering where to put their loved one.
Senator Casey says the accuracy and reliability of those ratings have scrutinized recently in media reports.
"We know that in our state we have something in the order of 700 nursing homes and it should be our goal that every one of those nursing homes is of the highest quality."
Casey is asking for a review by the Government Accountability Office using the most recent data available.
