Salem County School Official Charged With Stealing Funds

WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – A local school official has been arrested on theft charges.

Richard A. Costanzo, of Clayton, was arrested on Monday on charges of stealing funds from a state association of school transportation supervisors.

Constanzo was the secretary for the organization, as well as Supervisor of Transportation for Kingsway Regional High School in Woolwich Township, NJ.

Officials say that between Aug. 2012 and Sept. 2014, Constanzo transferred more than $225,000 from the School Transportation Supervisors of NJ to his personal bank accounts. He is facing charges of second-degree theft by unlawful taking.

Constanzo was formerly a Kingsway bus driver for 20 years.

He was booked and released from Salem County Jail after posting bail.
