Pre-race ritual: I always listen to some music to pump me up, usually dance/pop music.
Pre-race snack: The day before, I always drink a ton and load up on carbs if I'm running a lot of miles in one week.
Tips for new runners: What I would offer is definitely to train. Train at least a month in advance and you don't have to necessarily run 10 miles but just be comfortable running 4 miles at a good pace because what I've heard is you can run 3x your normal run route, so if you're okay with 4 miles, then 10 won't seem so bad.
Why she runs: I used to play sports year round in high school, participating in field hockey and lacrosse, as well as winter leagues. With this I never had to run much because I was always in shape from sports. But now that I am in college, I still want to be in shape and healthy, so I've learned to love running. It's a whole new experience when running is no longer a punishment like it was in high school sports.
