Pre-race ritual: Making sure I get a good night's sleep and I hydrate the day before. Also, stretching and making sure my playlist is ready to go.
Pre-race snack: Banana, peanut butter, cereal bar.
Tips for new runners: Pace yourself, especially in the beginning. Don't worry about people passing you, or feeling like you are falling behind. Each race is an opportunity to do your personal best, so focus on you and have fun.
Why she runs I started running with a colleague to train for the Corporate Challenge 5K in NYC, and discovered that I enjoyed running. It has proven to really help me not only get fit and challenge myself, but provides me with quiet time. Since that first 5K, I've successfully completed two half marathons (one in Philly!), and look forward to running the Broad Street Run for the first time.
